Saturday Morning Training Events

Every Saturday during the daylight saving period a bunch of us get together at 10am for a morning walk/run and then meet up at a nearby cafe for coffee and cake.

It's a free, low-key social activity with an optional one hour exercise - a great way to start the weekend! Scroll down for more details - or enter your email address below to subscribe to this newsletter.

Tell me more....

25-30 regular orienteers take part every Saturday; it's a great way of getting to know other orienteers. The courses use maps similar to streetO but generally have more controls - closer together to provide entertainment for those that only want to do a gentle walk or run. These events are a great way of learning how to set a course - if you've never done this, talk to us. This is a stress-free approach to learning a new skill.

A Walk in the Park

Keeping active is a key contributor to quality of life - as we get older we realise that the old mantra "use it or lose it" is so very true.

Cardio Fitness

Walk or run briskly. The heart beats faster, the body adapts to the exercise and gets stronger. Regular exercise makes you stronger - both physically and mentally.

Take part with friends

Latest research shows that social engagement is critical to mental acuity. Reduce the risk by exercising with friends; be interested in the lives of others.

Treat yourself

You've earned it! Most of our events are located near a cafe that can cope with the arrival of 20-25 orienteers. We book ahead - they appreciate the business - we appreciate the coffee and cake.

Learn to Read Maps

Most of us can already do this - and love the challenge of picking the best route for ourselves. In this age of increasing dependence on technology - spatial awareness skills will become increasingly important.
